Summit Middle School was Boulder's first charter school and was started by a group of parents who saw the need for a change in our children's education.Twenty years later parents are once again coming together to help start Boulder's first 21st century high school. 21st century schools are opening up all over the country. We are living in an ever-changing world and need to rethink, and reinvent the way we are educating our children. We are currently in the development phase and need our community's support to take Summit Academy High School from a vision to a reality.

At Summit Academy, we believe all scholars need access to community experiences, leadership positions and success in several work settings. Work-based learning experiences are a powerful way for scholars to hone interests, improve collaboration and communications skills and practice new skills with real-world outcomes.  A recent report on high school internship programs  “shows the importance of career development activities, such as internships and volunteering, for high school students who want to get into better colleges and find future employment” (Schawbel, High School Careers Study).  We recognize from both research and from student experiences after high school that there are essential skill sets that are foundational and vital to ensure our graduates have for success in post-graduate college and career navigation.  Our scholars also need the exposure to how these skills come alive in the world through site visits, career and industry practice, guest presenters and teachers, internship work and extended learning experiences. Below are several ways you can be part of the future of Summit Academy.
